When a property welcomes thousands of people, even an overlooked hillside can shape how the grounds look and feel. Located near one of the Medina County Fair’s busiest gathering areas, this prominent slope had become overgrown and was ready for a new approach.

C&S Lawn Service and Landscape cleared the existing plant material, excavated the hillside, and installed a PISA XL retaining wall from Unilock to hold the slope and create a structured foundation for the landscape. Layered plantings bring color, texture, and visual interest throughout the hillside, drawing attention to an area that once faded into the background.

The space also reflects what makes the Medina County Fair distinctive. A bench engraved with “Medina County Fair Time is…” gives visitors a place to sit and enjoy the grounds, while an engraved sandstone boulder featuring the 4-H logo recognizes the fair’s community roots. A flagpole adds another prominent element, and two pillars topped with planters frame the front of the landscaped area.

But this was not a one-time improvement. C&S returns each year to add something new, allowing the landscape to continue evolving alongside the property.

For property managers, that long-term perspective matters. Maintaining a property is not only about servicing what is already there. It is also about recognizing where thoughtful improvements can strengthen the property over time.
